Ch-ch-changes!

Hey All!

We know it’s been a while since we last updated the blog here.  We have been focusing on using Facebook since it’s quicker and more people use it.

However, we have a new website under construction so we should have something brand new and spiffy for everyone really soon!

Thanks for all the support and love!

A Little More About Our Vision

We’ve been so busy lately trying to get the store up and running that we haven’t had a lot of time to speak directly to our customers, so we figured we’d take some time to tell everyone a little more about our vision.

All of us at Wheelers believe that food is a very important part of society and community.  Not only is the act of eating a meal a social experience, the food on the plate is an important part of our ecosystem, economy, and our lives.

House-Cured Albacore Tuna

We strive to use only the best local produce – when seasonally available – for our sandwiches, salads, and soups.  When buying meats we look for all-natural and heritage breeds to create our house-made deli meats.  We do not use any pre-packaged or pre-made productsnearly everything we serve is house made - from our salad dressings to our cold cuts – with very few exceptions.

In order to provide the highest quality, we have collaborated with numerous local farms and suppliers to bring locally grown foods to your table whenever we can.  By working with as many New England producers as possible, we attempt to support the community while providing an ethically sourced, high quality, and sustainable product for our customers.  We demand information from our suppliers about where our food comes from and we will not buy from any supplier that cannot or will not produce the information we desire.

Creating a restaurant that strives to serve only the best products and producing all our food in-house is no easy task; it requires a lot more time and a lot more attention to detail, not to mention a higher cost.  We believe that  the extra effort is worth it, whether it is checking up on our suppliers to ensure the high quality that we all deserve, verifying that we are getting only all-natural, local, heirloom or heritage products, or striving to educate both our staff and the community about the benefits of our process.  We think that you only get out what you put in and we what we can to put out the best product possible.

Piedmont Beef Brisket with Local Greens and Heirloom Tomato

We are currently posting a series of informational links on our Facebook page to help inform our fans about the products we serve and why we have chosen “the long road”, as opposed to “an easy buck”. You can follow us on Facebook for daily updates or you can just have a look as some of the links below.

Whatever you decide, we hope you appreciate our dedication to both flavor and quality.  And always remember – anyone can cut corners – it takes dedication and perseverance to maintain do what we do.
